ABC is hosting a Multifamily Housing Social on Tuesday, December 3 to discuss why we need to end exclusionary zoning and how you can help. The election results make clear the urgency of Cambridge making room for more people and acting to help those here who are burdened by skyrocketing housing costs.
It is unconscionable that we still have neighborhoods where apartments are banned while our middle class has been hollowed out, young people can't afford to stay, and thousands of Cambridge residents are on the waitlist for affordable homes.
We have had years of study and process—back in 2018, Envision Cambridge called for zoning reform and set targets to create more housing by 2030 that we are nowhere close to reaching. This Council must be the one that finally ends exclusionary zoning and legalizes multifamily housing citywide.
Sign up here to join us our endorsed City Councillors at our Multifamily Housing Social at 7 pm on Tuesday, December 3 at Sonia, 10 Brookline Street in Central Square, to support ending exclusionary zoning and legalizing apartments citywide.
Forward this post to your friends and neighbors and invite them as well!
We would appreciate your support at the following meetings as well:
- TONIGHT, Tues., 11/12, 6:30 pm, Planning Board (Sign up to give public comment via Zoom)
- Tues., 11/19, 2 pm, Ordinance Committee (City presentation and Councillor questions)
- Weds., 12/4, 2:30 pm, Ordinance Committee (Sign up to give public comment via Zoom)
We have put together a page with Frequently Asked Questions that has much more information, and this terrific video explains how more homes results in greater affordability--please check both out and share widely!
